Brief Biography

Mrs. Mayfield’s journey to professional artist was destined, yet not direct. Her original ambition was to work at Kay’s Kastle Ice Cream Parlor as her grandmother had done. Fortunately, in 1997, Debbie had the opportunity to pursue seriously the avocation she had always loved. She is now a full-time artist working mainly in oil and watercolor. She has recently been discovering the merits of acrylics. Mayfield is grateful to all the artists who have helped her along her artistic journey. Some detours along her path include graduating at age twenty from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. in psychology; attending TexasChristian University on a full golf scholarship; and passing the Tennessee bar exam in 1983 after receiving a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
